This is one of the very last double-cut Les Paul Specials before they moved on to the SG body. The Les Paul double-cut came and went in the same year, moving forward from the single-cut in early 1959, the Les Paul logo was promptly removed and changed its name to SG special. This is one of the last ones to roll out in 1961, when only a few hundred were made. It's in great shape, just has the normal wear you'd expect with very minor ding sand scratches here and there on the body, as well as some faint, fine checking. The neck pretty clean and glossy. The headstock also shows some light checking along with some minor dings, mostly around the edges. The neck has been broken near the heel and behind the nut, both have been professionally repaired. The tuners have been replaced by Grovers that have a different footprint than the original tuners. The potentometers have been replaced as well. Refretted by Mike Lull. The controls rewired back to the normal configuration. The bridge has been replaced by one made in Japan. One pickup has been rewound. The strings are at a medium-low height and it plays nice and easy.
